Since 1987, Solon High School Model United Nations has been pushing students to become more globally minded and diplomatic in demeanor. Through weekly meetings, conferences, and community events, we have established ourselves as one of Solon’s most influential student organizations.
Prior to conferences each student assumes the position of a country, is assigned a committee within the UN, and receives topic areas to debate. After extensive research, students work together to reach resolutions on the world’s most pressing issues.

Model United Nations is a debate club which simulates the United Nations and regularly competes at conferences in and out of state. Model UN pushes students to become more diplomatic and globally minded by finding solutions for real-world problems.
Each student assumes the position of a country, is assigned a committee within the UN, and receives topic areas to debate. After research, public speech, debate, lobbying, and negotiations students work together to reach resolutions on the world’s most pressing issues.

We hold meetings every Thursday from 3:00-4:00.

A moderated caucus is a regulated session by the chair which allots a specific amount of time to a certain amount of people to speak in an orderly fashion, mainly to get ideas out there. (see unmoderated caucus)

An unmoderated caucus is a more free session, where you can walk around the committee and talk/collaborate with any other delegates.
